Where Great Danes Get the Royal Treatment

Oak Ridge's five-star dog spa built for big breeds, beloved by every dog who walks through the door.

About Us

Brianna and her team at Danes & Dogs Spa and Lounge have earned something rare in the pet grooming world: a 5.0 rating across 153 reviews from dog owners who are notoriously hard to impress. That kind of trust doesn't come from a fancy sign on Berkshire Valley Road. It comes from groomers who actually slow down, read the dog, and adjust their approach, especially for large and sensitive breeds who've had rough experiences elsewhere.

The spa was built with Great Danes in mind, which means the space, the tables, the tubs, and the temperament of the staff are all scaled to handle dogs that most salons quietly dread. But that same patience and spatial awareness benefits every dog on the schedule, from Mini Goldendoodles to Wheaten Terriers. Clients describe it as a place where their dogs feel comfortable, not just tolerant of the process.

If your dog has had a bad grooming experience before, this is the place to try again. The team here doesn't rush, doesn't cut corners, and doesn't hand your dog back looking like a different animal. They listen to what you want, they take care of your dog like it's their own, and they clean up after themselves too.

What We Offer

Danes & Dogs offers full-service grooming for dogs of all sizes, with particular expertise in large and giant breeds that require extra space, patience, and handling skill. Every appointment includes a bath with professional-grade shampoo and conditioner, blow-dry, brush-out, nail trim, ear cleaning, and a breed-appropriate haircut or trim styled to your preferences.

The lounge environment is calm by design. There's no chaotic kennel noise, no rushed assembly-line grooming. Dogs are handled one at a time with focused attention, which makes a real difference for anxious animals or those who've been reactive at other shops. First-time appointments for nervous dogs are welcomed, not turned away.

Add-on services include teeth brushing, de-shedding treatments for heavy-coat breeds, and specialty conditioning masks for dry or irritated skin. Whether your dog is a regular or coming in for the first time after a difficult experience somewhere else, the goal is the same: they leave looking great and feeling good about the whole thing.

Why Choose Us

Perfect 5.0 rating from 153 verified reviews, one of the highest-rated pet spas in all of Morris County.
Brianna and her staff specialize in Great Danes and large breeds, with the space and skills to match.
Dogs with anxiety or past grooming trauma are welcomed and handled with calm, individualized care.
The spa is spotlessly clean, purpose-built for dogs, not a converted human salon with a dog in the back.
Owners stay informed throughout the process and dogs are never rushed through a production-line schedule.
Located conveniently on Berkshire Valley Road in Oak Ridge, serving families across northern New Jersey.

"My Great hasn't had the best grooming experience and this was our fourth attempt. I will not get into the particulars of the setbacks as we travel in small circles. However, after an appointment confirmation and conversation, I was excited to meet Briana (owner), & her Dog Squad. From the moment my Great & I walked in, you could sense a calm relaxed atmosphere and cleanliness. Briana took the time to address all my concerns, needs, wish list, etc.. all while bonding with my Great and giving him a comfort level! I never felt rushed and more importantly, neither did my Great! My Great ended up walking into the grooming area on his own and when I picked him up, you could tell he was loved on & super happy! One concern I had... His nails were addressed as much as they could be for his first visit but I could instantly tell they were groomed 🐾 After some more advice and words of wisdom for my Great, we left with a sense of "FINALLY, I think we found our groomin haven"! We are looking forward to our next session along with the peace of mind that any pawrent looks forward to. XOXOX Gris The Great 🐾🧡"

"I can’t say enough about Brianna and her staff. Wouldn’t dream of taking either of my boys Nash (Mini GD in the photo) or Fred, the Wheaton Terrier, anywhere else. There’s 2 places that most dogs hate, the Vet and the groomers, my guys get so excited to get groomed. Thank you for taking such good care of my FurKids. 5 Stars +++++ (The Halloween photo is pretty awesome!) 💙 Pete T"

"We had been using another groomer for years but due to a relocation to Sussex County it was no longer feasible to travel over an hour to get my 2 guys groomed. We have 1 year old Golden Doodle and a 9 year old Wheaton Terrier that need regular grooming. Upon our first visit the groomer was knowledgeable and asked questions on preferences and the pup’s temperament. I love the fact that the dogs are not caged up but rather in large pen area. Both pups came back looking great and relaxed. The service was courteous and surprisingly quick for both guys. Will be going back this week as the little guy is starting to show some signs of matting around his neck and back. Great to have a knowledgeable groomer so close to Sparta. PT"

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you groom Great Danes and other giant breeds?

Yes, absolutely. Danes & Dogs was specifically designed with giant breeds in mind. The tubs, tables, and handling approach are all suited to large dogs, and the staff has hands-on experience with Great Danes, Mastiffs, Bernese Mountain Dogs, and similar breeds.

My dog has had bad experiences at other groomers. Can you still help?

This is actually one of the most common reasons people come to us. Several of our most loyal clients came to us after difficult experiences elsewhere. We take our time, keep the environment calm, and never force a dog through something they're clearly not ready for. Call ahead so we can note it on your appointment.

How do I book an appointment?

You can book through the website at danesanddogsspa.com or reach out via the contact form. Appointments are recommended, especially for large breeds, as scheduling is personalized rather than back-to-back.

What does a full grooming appointment include?

A full groom includes a bath with professional shampoo and conditioner, blow-dry, thorough brush-out, nail trim, ear cleaning, and a breed-appropriate cut or trim. Add-ons like teeth brushing and de-shedding treatments are also available.

How long does a grooming appointment typically take?

Appointment length depends on breed, coat condition, and size. A smaller dog may take 1.5 to 2 hours, while large and giant breeds can take 3 hours or more. We'll give you an estimated timeframe when you book.

Is the facility clean and safe for my dog?

Cleanliness is one of the things clients mention most in reviews. The spa is purpose-built for dogs, maintained meticulously between appointments, and designed to minimize stress with a calm, low-noise environment.
